The 3rd Annual KDR Career Day on Saturday, February 25, 2017 was a success! Nearly thirty (30) or our fifty-five (55) active chapter members suited-up and joined forces with with ten (10) Pi Alpha alumni for an in-depth working session to advance their skills in: resume writing, interviewing, networking, online personal brand management, and career development.

The session started with introductions from the ten alumni members in attendance, including:Jeff Panning ’87, Jon Hoffman ’94, Dr. Nick Espinoza ’86, John Lippus ’88, Ben Perkins ’10, Fr. Dave Nuss ’88, Rob Sherman ’95.  Three (3) of the chapters thirty-six (36) former Consuls also attended, including: Evan Mahl ’15, Chris Steingass ’90 and Rick Longenecker ’86.

With introductions complete the group broke into five (5) small group working sessions where active chapter brothers engaged in-depth conversations with two (2) Pi Alpha alumni on one of the following topics for thirty (30) minutes each.  The topics included:

  1. Career Development i.e. picking a profession
  2. Resume, Cover Letter & Thank You Letter Writing
  3. Interviewing Skills
  4. Job Search, Researching Companies and Networking Skills
  5. Managing Your Personal Brand Online & Self-presentation

KDR Career Day 2017 ended with active and alumni brothers giving feedback on how to improve next years KDR Career Day.  It was an energizing and informative four-hours for everyone. This is another positive step toward Pi Alpha to its rightful status as the best performing chapter at The University of Toledo and within KDR National.
